During her 65-year reign, 91-year-old Queen Elizabeth II has gathered an admirable collection of premium cars, worth around £10 million. What many people actually don’t know is that the Queen is an avid driver and has been seen behind the wheel of a great number of luxury cars. The Queen of England’s collection includes numerous luxury car brands including Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Daimler, as well as other not-so-luxury support vehicles.
Bentley State Limousines
Although the Queen’s official State fleet contains Daimlers, Rolls-Royces, and other luxury car brands, the most interesting pair of luxury cars are probably the custom-state Bentley twins. Unique and specifically designed for the occasion of her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee in 2002, the twin Bentleys are almost a meter longer than the mass-produced Bentley Mulsanne luxury vehicle.
- 2002 Bentley State Limousine specifications:
Weight: 3390 kg (7474 lbs) Engine: V8
Top speed: 193 km/h (120 mph ) Torque: 835 Nm / 616 lb-ft
ESTIMATED PRICE: $700,000
2015 Bentley Bentayga
In addition to owning several custom-made Bentley premium cars, Her Majesty has also had the honor to become the first owner of the new luxury vehicle, Bentley Bentayga, in 2015. Labelled the most powerful and the fastest SUV in the universe, it is also among the priciest luxury cars, with the price starting at £160,200 (around $214,000) for the basic model of this luxury vehicle.
- 2015 Bentley Bentayga specifications:
Weight: 2,440 kg (5,379 lb) Engine: 6.0 L twin-turbo W12 petrol
Top speed: 301 km/h (187 mph ) Torque: 900 Nm / 664 lb-ft
ESTIMATED PRICE: $213,500
2001 Jaguar Daimler
Contrary to the State limousines, in which Her Majesty was chauffeured by other people, this Jaguar Daimler V8 Super LWB was actually driven by the Queen herself. This premium car contains a wide variety of specific modifications designed to suit the Queen’s needs, including radio connection with Downing Street and a special holder for the royal handbag. In 2013, this luxury vehicle was sold at auction for £35,000.
- 2001 Jaguar Daimler specifications:
Weight: 1,875 kg (4,134 lbs) Engine: V8
0-100 km/h: 5.5 s Torque: 525 Nm / 387 lb-ft
ESTIMATED PRICE: $46,600
2002 Land Rover Defender
Although not really a luxury vehicle, Land Rover Defender is the Queen’s all-time favorite. The estimates are that she has possessed around 30 Land Rovers during more than six decades of her reign. There is a special bond between the Queen and this car, as it is said to remind her of the vehicles she used to operate during her service in the World War II. Like most of her premium cars, this one was also customized according to her wishes.
- 2002 Land Rover Defender specifications:
Weight: 2950 kg (6504 lbs) Engine: Diesel
0-100 km/h: 18.1 s (manufacturer) Torque: 300 Nm / 221 ft-lb
ESTIMATED PRICE: $40,300
2015 Range Rover LWB Landaulet
This is the fourth luxury vehicle put at Queen’s disposal by Land Rover. From 1953 Land Rover Series 1 to 2015 Range Rover LWB Landaulet, it is one of the luxury car brands that has always been a member of the royal premium cars family. It features an open-air top used by the Queen to wave to the crowds.
- 2015 Range Rover LWB Landaulet specifications:
Weight: 2,413 kg (5,320 lbs) Engine: 3.0-litre turbodiesel V6 / electric
Top speed: 250 km/h (155 mph ) Torque: 700Nm / 516 lb-ft
ESTIMATED PRICE: $106,995
All these premium cars, manufactured by the most famous luxury car brands, but still, the rumors are circulating that the Queen doesn’t have a valid driving license. We guess she is the only person in Britain who doesn’t need one.
